What’s The Deal With Content Management Systems?

CMS

This is the first of many posts on this subject as I explore each of the major CMS platforms.  I have been working heavily with wordpress the last six months and it is definitely in the lead.  Ease of use after turnover to client, customization with css and html, thousands of widgets, and support are what help it to the top of my list.  Once all of the content is in place, and the site is set up for the client… the maintenance, and updating are fairly simple and straight forward.  Customers seem at ease once we go over the processes required for updating, and they see how easy it is.  I have worked with drupal, and joomla on the design and layout side, but they have not yet been the direction I have gone to complete the site… I always end back at wordpress if the customer requires a CMS with a lot of control and blog engine.  I know that joomla and drupal have their place in the design & development field and I look forward to taking off my comfort blinders and exploring all of them in greater detail.

I am new to WordPress but have followed its progress for years. I’ve heard no shortage of good things about it and it has grown to be a remarkable CMS. I look forward to working hands-on with WordPress in the near future.
